Our New Leaders

Following the Vestry election at the Annual Meeting, the Rector chooses her Senior Warden, and the Vestry votes on their Junior Warden and School Board Representative. It is with great joy we announce that Sandra Lee (2025) will continue to serve as the School Board Representative and that Chris Woodyard (2025) will continue to serve as the Junior Warden this year. Ken Robbins (2027) has also accepted the nomination as Senior Warden, saying, “It will be a challenge to follow in the footsteps of our beloved former Senior Warden Arnold Blanshard, but I will do my best to continue his strong legacy.” And, while no longer on the Vestry, Donna Mills has graciously agreed to serve as the Treasurer of St. James’ for an additional year.

We also give thanks to our incoming Vestry members Nancy Bishop (2027), Marisa Cuevas-Koch (2027), Andrew Lee (2027) as well as to our continuing Vestry members Jeff Bryan (2025), Leslie Emge (2026), Doug Jones (2026), Chris Marcil (2026), Vanessa Mesia-Ullrich (2025), Grace Ogbunamiri (2025), Ada Okezie (2027), and Matt Wallace (2026).

Please keep them in your prayers as they assume these important leadership roles in our parish.

Email Alert!

Just a friendly reminder that Mother Kate, Father Kim, and Father Jon will never send you an email asking for gift cards. Recently, emails have been sent saying, “May peace be unto you! Have you got a minute? I have a humble request for you and it is confidential. Please notify me when you get my mail, Thanks.”

Please ignore these emails and report them as spam/phishing.

Hope in Uncertain Times

On Saturday, March 16 from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, join with the women of St. James in a day of prayer, reflection, and sharing, led by our Fr. Jon Feuss at the beautiful Holy Spirit Retreat Center in Encino. Cost is $80, and lunch is provided. Contact Holly Holyk (gaah@att.net, 323-697-6122), Ingrid Finley-Scott (ingrids45@icloud.com, 818-314-5971), or SaraJane Thies (sjthies1503@gmail.com, 323-273-6745) for questions or to arrange carpools.

Please note that the registration deadline is March 7.

Path of Miracles Concert & Adullam House Fundraiser Dinner

On Sunday, April 14 at 4:15PM, St. James’ will be hosting a performance of Path of Miracles, an extended choral composition by Joby Talbot. Then, after the concert, we will be having a fundraiser dinner with guest of honor the Rt. Rev. John Harvey Taylor. Proceeds will help fund the incredible work that Fr. Kim does: providing shelter, food, supervision, and care to elderly Koreans in the heart of Koreatown. Tickets for the dinner may be purchased below (as always, the concert is free).

Thinking About the Cross

The Cross is one of the greatest mysteries of our faith. It is the junction of so many emotions: pain and joy, desolation and hope. Join Bishop Frank and Father Jon this Lent as they examine the many facets of the Cross using Sam Wells’s book Hanging by a Thread: The Questions of the Cross. Classes continue this Wednesday at 7PM via Zoom.
